about Les Carroz
Family friendly Les Carroz is one of 5 villages that makes up France’s Grand Massif ski area, and lays claim to having had the first ever ski lift, built in 1939. It’s a charming and spacious village and a good contrast to the brutal looking Flaine which sits higher up in the same linked area.
Les Carroz is a favourite for families. It’s certainly not a wild apres party kind of place, but has plenty of child friendly facilities and activities for non-skiers. It’s been classified a “Famille Plus” resort so it’s very much geared up for smaller mountain lovers with a good range of nurseries, ski schools and introductory sessions available. The Aquacime spa and fitness centre has an outdoor swimming pool and the fitness centre has an indoor pool, spa, sauna and gym.
Les Carroz is lift-linked to the other other villages in the area with the exception of Sixt, which you can ski down to but doesn’t have it’s own lift to bring you back into the main area. However you can easily get up to the high altitude resort of Flaine and enjoy skiing and snowboarding up at 2500m. There are plenty of tree runs which adds to the overall prettiness of the area.
It’s a good spot for people looking for chalets away from the hustle and bustle of more crowded resorts. Check out Chalet Grand Mont, Chalet Erica and Chalet Deux Freres.
