about les houches
Situated down the valley from Chamonix town, Les Houches is the place to head when the weather closes in, with trees providing the best chance of shelter and visibility.
Mainly an area for beginners and families with mostly gentle slopes, Les Houches does however have the rather speedy La Verte Olympic downhill run if you fancy a challenge.
If you have the Chamonix Mont Blanc pass you can jump on the free busses to get their, something you’ll get used to quickly if you’ve not been to the Chamonix area before.
Off the slopes, apres and indeed much of anything is virtually non-existent. This is not the party or restaurant area of the Chamonix valley, but if you’re looking for a quiet location away from the hustle and bustle of Chamonix proper and easy access to some mellow slopes Les Houches is a great option.
