The town of Chamonix is one of the best bases for skiing, snowboarding, mountaineering and gnarly mountain based sports of the more adventurous in nature. Here there's a great sense of ski history rubbing shoulders with people keen to throw themselves off the top of the world. Chamonix is a proper town with all the amenities you could wish for and access to a number of individual ski areas spread out through the valley.

  • By air
    Geneva is the closest airport to Chamonix and takes around an hour's drive. Perfect for short and long breaks. Chambery airport is only two hours drive away.

  • By road
    Follow the Autoroute Blanche (A40) motorway​. Pick up signs to Chamonix - Mont Blanc

  • By train
    Chamonix is a train stop on the line connecting the main Swiss and French rail networks. Catch the TGV on a Friday, Saturday and Sunday direct to Chamonix - Mont Blanc. Outside of these days you have to change at Annecy. Sallanches train station is also nearby.
